The Fitzroy River and Coastal Catchments Inc is a community based group that focuses on:
- Improving natural resource management practices
- Coordinating an incentive program for on-ground works and capacity building
- Supporting a catchment and property scale monitoring program
- Organising activities to raise awareness and promote natural resource management
- Building partnerships with stakeholders
- Coordinating the planning and implementation of the Fitzroy River and Coastal Catchments Natural Resource Management Plan to guide investments and activities.
The catchment area includes the coastal catchments of the Styx River, Shoalwater Creek, Waterpark Creek and the Capricorn Coast and incorporates the Fitzroy Shire, Livingstone Shire, Rockhampton City Council and portions of Broadsound, Duaringa, Banana, Mt Morgan and Calliope Shires.
