From the desk of the Committee.......

Christine Ward has stepped down from the FRCC Management Committee with Michelle Hanrahan accepting the position of President. The Committee thanks Christine for her valuable contributions as a Committee member and for performing the important role of President.The organisation has recently been restructured and the Committee and staff are reviewing ways in which to improve management, communication and general efficiency of operations. The Executive Officer position and a Project Officer position have been advertised.
Technical data has been reviewed and the next Priority Neighbourhood Catchments have been selected. Work will soon begin in the northern area of the sub-region targeting the following Neighbourhood Catchments:
- St Lawrence Creek
- Waverley Creek
- Torilla.
Neighbourhood Catchment projects are wrapping up. Some remarkable results have been detected through on-ground monitoring. Wetland projects in the Southern Fitzroy Floodplain, Hedlow system and St Lawrence are progressing well. The FRCC Water Quality Monitoring Program will be coming to an end soon and a publication will be released to share the results with the community.
The FRCC Lantana Field Day was held in April, a component of the FRCC Capacity Building program, was well attended with close to 80 participants. The Morinish Landcare Group, Wycarbah & District Landcare Group, Capricorn Coast Landcare Group and the Livingstone Remnant Vegetation Study Group have been actively hosting natural resource management events and activities with funding provided through FRCC by the Fitzroy Basin Association and the National Landcare Programme.
